Lindsey's first pair of knitted socks!

These are Lindsey's new socks.  I did them toe up two at a time, with a nifty short row heel technique.

8th RULE: If this is your first night at Knit Circle, you HAVE to knit.

Yes, this is inspired by the fact that Jeff says knitting is like fight club for girls and by Chloe, who helped with the rules. Random strangers and I talk randomly about knitting when we see each other with projects. Jeff thinks we're a secret society.

So this is not at all yarn related

But I am estatic, so I had to share.

I have restarted my dreads.  I talked to boss lady who said and I quote, "You could be balled under there for all I know, I haven't seen your hair in months.  You dress nicely and are clean, and you wrap or cover your hair in a hat.  I don't carer two hoots what is under the hat."

Right now it looks like a small birds nest, because I decided to do something completely different this time.  Washing... lots of washing and some twisting and ripping in certain sections just to get it started.  Then everything else is going to go and do it's thing, and I am going to be patient and watch the ride this time.

But I would like to see if I can make this seat a healthier and happier set, with more energy directed to creating something and taking all that time and energy that was put into lost relationships in Denver, and all the anger from the start in Houston which inadvertently got all wrapped up into my hair and put it to bed.

This time I want to start fresh and clean, with a goal for myself spiritually and financially.  This time I want the process of growth with my dreads to reflect the positive growth in my life.  I want to change and do things that are positive in my life, and the last set was pretty, but it carried with it some of the dark negative emotions of finding yourself when you are lost, and all this crazy energy about taking back pieces of yourself that you gave up to make other people happy.

My old dreads were in fact a testiment to finding lost pieces of my mental health and finding my voice to stand up and tell people, I wasn't a walking board.  This set I would like to be a testiment to how, Now I have all the pieces and I won't let people walk all over me, but how can I use those experiences to incite positive change in my life.

These are my goals, and I would like my knitting and all the creative things I do in my life to reflect the more natural and healthy start I am having with my hair be an instant reminder to myself of the natual and healthy life I would like to live, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Today I promised...

Okay so I have reformatted the blog, and I am promising myself that in the upcoming months I will be more diligent in posting and telling people more about what I am doing.

I have cut back on some of the make believing I was doing and I am going to start creating and doing more things with my blogs.  I need to get back into my art room, train my dogs, and get my life back on track.  This was step one.

As for what I am knitting, I am finally working on socks for Lindsey.  He picked out the colour, and I went out of my way to learn a completely new method of knitting socks so I would *actually* finish this pair.  I am hoping they fit I think they might actually be a bit big, but hopefully they will fit well enough.

A new Beginning

I am sorry that I haven't posted more.... then when I did I deleted the post.  So I am trying to make this work correctly.

I am working on Socks.  I was bitten by the sock bug, and it may have just gotten worse since I learned how to do toe up working two socks at a time.

This is the last set of socks I made:

I did them one at a time on DPN's

Handspun Hat

this is the hat that made me fall in love with knitting handspun yarn. I ordered this yarn from Etsy and fell in love with the idea of yarn that looked rustic.

Sushi Hat

I called this a Sushi hat because the way the colors came out made me think of fresh salmon rolls..... so yummy....

the traumatic Burnt Orange Scarf

This I think is the most hideous thing I have ever knitted it... it's burnt orange for the Longhorns fan I made it for. I hate burnt orange.

Some updatede Finished Objects

This is my Unseelie shawl made from 100% handspun yarn that looked like this when I got it (I spun the yarn)
This is what I made from it.... so warm....

Anti-Emo Rainbow Armwarmers

So today I finished a project with my rainbow hand-spun that I did months ago. I might have to re-knit one glove the spinning on the first part of the ball wasn't as even as the rest of the skein, so there were some gauge issues on the left glove, the right one turned out perfect.

I started on this today.

I am using black Filatura Di Crosa Baby Kid Extra. It's like Rowan Kidsilk Haze, but I could get it special ordered in the quantity I needed.

I actually took this picture on my phone from the book the pattern it in...... it looks like I really took a picture of a woman, I think it's the first good picture my phone has ever taken.

This is the rainbow yarn I have been working on for about 2 weeks now.

I just pulled it out of the final soak and bashed it about a bit.

I got 459 yards of it! YEAH!

Soooo.....

The day I have been waiting for has come!
My new wheel is stained, and put together and working like a dream... I haven't even bothered to set it up to use single drive... I have managed to get everything working and I can spin double drive with no issues. So here are the pictures, the first is of the wheel. I will have better ones tomorrow I think. The second one is of the rainbow fleece I got and started to spin on the new wheel. Please ignore the mess in the background..... my home is in a sad state right now, but cleaning can finally start happening- I will graduate next week.
